At Barracuda Precision Building Materials, we’re always looking for ways to make it easier for our customers to install product themselves, hence our new supply-only service. We’ve built a custom trailer which allows us to transport up to 2.5 tons of product up to 7m long, which should be more than enough to see you right for your project.
Longer lengths can be joined by laping the battens at a truss joint.
Standard length orders
Confirm the total number of lengths required for each room/space or area from the drawings.
Roundup shorter lengths to one of our three standard batten lengths, 3.6, 4.8 or 6M
Note: For really short lengths (as in wardrobes or study nooks) you may be able to get two short lengths out of one standard length.
An easy way of calculating how much perimeter angle is required for your project is to half the number of batten meters. Eg an order for 390M of batten would require approx. 195 meters of angle. Perimeter angle is only sold in 3M lengths so the total number of lengths of perimeter angle needed to complement this order would be 195/3=65 lengths.
Pro Tip: Optimise shorter quantities to longer lengths to avoid wastage
Pro Tip: leave perimeter angle off cuts in a central place should you need an extra piece to finish a room.
Cut-to-room size orders
Print out a list of each room/space requiring batten. Begin the list with the largest room first working down the list to the smallest space. This helps with how the order nests (stacks) making it easier to unload at the other end.
Pro Tip: Optimise shorter quantities, getting them out of longer lengths to avoid wastage.
Pro Tip: When receiving the order from our delivery team, you’ll note that all different lengths have the name of the room/space written on the batten. Take time at the beginning to separate the different lengths and distribute them accordingly throughout the building. We find this helpful, so as not to waste time during installation, retrieving batten from outside. At the same time, divvy up the 3M lengths of perimeter angle.
